Since marrying Bill Rancic in 2007, former E! news host Giuliana Rancic has called Chicago home splitting time between the city and LA. In 2015 the family relocated full time to the Windy City to raise their son Duke as well as their growing portfolio of businesses including RPM Italian, RPM Steak and the G by Giuiliana brand. The former E! news anchor who still host’s Live from the Red Carpet during awards season as well as being a panelist on Fashion Police, hosted Macy’s Presents Fashion’s Front Row during NYFW and she brought a dose of the fashion to Chicago showcasing some of fall’s latest trends. We had a chance to sit and chat with Giuliana Rancic to talk about Chicago, her morning routine and advice for those aspiring to be in front of the camera like her one day.
“When you are eager and you’re a go getter, people who make the decisions at the company will notice that and they will want you to not only be part of the company they will want you to grow within the company.”
What makes Chicago home for you?
I love Chicago! I think the people are incredible; I have so many friends here and we have our businesses here plus it feels like home. I love living in the city, walking to places and I’m able to walk Duke to school. I just feel really comfortable here.
What’s your morning routine?
I have been making a lot of my own skin care products lately (perhaps an addition to Giuliana’s brand soon?). I would love if I could add that just because I am always looking for products that are good for you in terms of skin care. I do a mixture of coconut oil and some other natural ingredients. It’s a simple regiment in the morning because I’ve already cleaned my makeup off at night.
In terms of my night routine, I always take my makeup off. Even on a late night, I always find the energy.
For someone aspiring to be in the entertainment industry, in this age of instant gratification and social media fame, what would your advice to them be?
My best advice will be to go to the place where you would love to work one day or a place like it and really start at the bottom and be ok with that. Don’t feel a certain way because you have a degree or you have this or that and feel you should have a better job, should be making more money. The key is to get noticed and move up the ranks through a company you want to be with. Get in there; get your foot through the door and make a great impression. Say YES to things. Don’t ever say I’m beyond that, you’d be surprised some people do give off that vibe. When you are eager and you’re a go getter, people who make the decisions at the company will notice that and they will want you to not only be part of the company they will want you to grow within the company. I say definitely do that and don’t think you are too above something. That’s how I always was when I was starting my career. I always felt like I would do anything to prove to you that I’m a good worker. Prove your strong work ethic and it will take you a long way.
