Now that the film awards season has ended, it’s time for the fashion award. CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) has announced their 2014 Fashion Awards Nominees.
Shane Gabier & Christopher Peters of Creatures of The Wind
SAIC’s Shane Gabier & Christopher Peters of Creatures of The Wind who have been lauded and critically praised by fashion industry bigs and their recent F/W 2014 show definitely showcased a more mature but still true to the brand look are nominated in the up & coming womenswear designer category. Other Up & Coming designers nominated for the Swarovski award include Rosie Assoulin and Wes Gordon for womenswear; Hood by Air’s Shayne Oliver, Tim Coppens and Todd Snyder for menswear. Marc Alary, Irene Neuwirth and Jennifer Fisher are nominated for accessory design.
The Swarovski Award recipients in each category will receive generous financial support from Swarovski as well as exposure to the company’s vast and innovative Swarovski crystal resources.
The Accessories Designer of the Year award nominees are Alexander Wang, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s The Row and Proenza Schouler’s Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough.
This is really exciting to see the growth of these young designers as well as those established names being recognized by their industry and peers.
The Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award will be bestowed upon the one and only Tom Ford. Dior Creative Director Raf Simons will be honored with the International award. Bethann Hardison who is a fashion icon in her own right and has been a vocal supporter of diversity on the catwalks and runway will be honored with the Founder’s Award in Honor of Eleanor Lambert. John Waters will be the host of the evening and we are sure this will be a must attend event.
Diane Von Furstenberg and CFDA CEO Steven Kolb along with Nadja Swarovski made the announcement at the reception that took place at NYC Bowery Hotel.
CFDA awards will take place in NYC June 2.
