Last year, Chicago teacher Dwayne Reed’s “Welcome to the 4th Grade” music video, designed as a welcome letter to his incoming clas, went viral making him an internet sensation. The success of that video coupled with love for teaching kids to learn through a style he calls urban Disney, led Old Navy to tap him for their ONward! music project!
Old Navy’s ONward! music project! aims to champion the unsung heroes – the incredible teachers – through a series of music videos eight videos featuring original songs penned and performed by extraordinary teachers from across the country. The project is created in partnership with Pharrell Williams’ creative collective, i am OTHER, and the videos celebrate the launch of Old Navy’s cause platform ONward! focused on taking the next generation to the next level. Through the platform, teachers impart important messages to the next generation through catchy tunes while outfitted in Old Navy’s latest styles
Mr. Reed is back with the new song Welcome Back to School and we’re sur ehe’ll be singing it to his students as he enters his first year of teaching 5th Grade at Chicago charter school, LEARN Campbell Elementary. Watch the video below.
