Last Thursday (4/10), The Chicago Archtecture Foundation hosted it’s 39th annual gala. The ungala gala was a departure from the usual downtown hotel/venue+ballgowns and tuxes, 3 course seated dinner recipe. It was cocktail attire, hors d-oeuvres and different Chicago centric food station.  The CAF gala was held at the Bridgeport Arts Center with a view overlooking the city skyline in the background. “Reach for the Sky” was the theme of the evening which honored John A. Buck II and The John Buck Company for their entrepreneurial spirit and ongoing development of Chicago.

Several architectural and design firms such as Studio Gang Architects, Krueck + Sexton Architects, Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture created LEGO® models which were part of the silent auction.

Other silent auctions items included a variety of artwork from Project Onward and a curious one which invlolved a tour of Graceland cemetery to visit the grave sites of Daniel Burnham, Mies van der Rohe, Potter Palmer, George Pullman.

Guest that didn’t leave early left with sweet treats in the form of mini dinky’s donuts that were oh so good.
