Last Thursday, renowned brand Breguet celebrated it’s Chicago leg of the “Breguet the Innovator. Inventor of the Tourbillon,” touring exhibit that kicked off this year in Geneva and will conclude in New York City.
Founded by Abraham-Louis Breguet, who is considered the father of contemporary horology and having reached tourbillon-the pinnacle of watchmaking, the Breguet brand is one of the best and most recognized luxury brand watches in the world. The reception which included brief remark from Breguet U.S. Brand Manager, Mr. Michael Nelson, with Chicago PD’s Archie Kao in attendance, had delicious food and wine catered by Gibsons group.
The exhibit on display in Chicago until October 29 includes several historic items from the Breguet archives including several pocket watches and some of their more contemporary wristwatches. The priceless timepieces on display are a tourbillon repeater chronometer from 1812, a legendary perpétuelle pocket watch with “à toc” quarter repeater known as the “No. 5,” and the 5377 ultra-thin tourbillon introduced at Baselworld this year.
