Black UPenn students Targeted In Chat Group For Lynching

Amidst high racial tension in the country right now especially during the campaign and after the election of Republican candidate Donald Trump, a group of students in a GroupMe text group have added several black freshman students from the University of Pennsylvania to their “daily lynching” calendar. The story was first reported by UPenn’s campus newspaper, the Daily Pennsylvanian. According to following reports from the Washington Post, the messages has left some students in tears, frightened and angry, led to protests.
Three students who live in Oklahoma have been found linked to the GroupMe including one who attends the University of Oklahoma and has been temporarily suspended. Messages in the group referred to black people as n******, c***s, and dumb slaves, while one read: “All heil TRUMPMEISTER” as well as posted pictures of historic murders of black people
Black students are not the only ones feeling the racial tension that’s got a hold of this country right now. Following the announcement last week, a teacher in California taunted students that their parents will be deported now that Donald Trump is the President-elect. According to CBS2, an increase in harassment and bullying in schools, especially of minorities, muslims and LGBT students, in the wake of Donald Trump’s presidential election win following a divisive campaign.
