The Tony Awards, which celebrates excellence in theatre performance, recognizing achievement in live Broadway theatre, hasn’t historically been the hotbed of fashion or at least making a big deal out of red carpet arrivals but thanks to a comment from THE queen supreme of fashion Anna Wintour during an interview with Suzy Menkes, at Central Saint Martins in London “I was just recently at the Tony Awards . . . and, God, they need your help. Let me tell you, it was a disaster…How many mermaid fishtail strapless sequin gowns can we see?” she was enlisted as a consultant and with that fishtail strapless gowns be gone and hello high fashion.
