Model, Philanthropist Petra Nemcova was in Chicago Friday (4/5) to join invited guests for an evening of shopping at the La Perla Michigan Avenue shop where 10% of proceeds went to benefit her Happy Hearts Fund. Dressed in a stunning La Perla suit(did you know they made ready to wear too? more of that to come) she was all smiles as she enthusiastically talked about her candle collection, signed and posed for photos with guests and she also took the time to speak with us about philanthropy.
On finding a cause to support.
Petra: If you have the passion for something or a cause, research to see if someone else is doing the same thing. If they are doing a great job, then look for ways to support them as to not duplicate resources.
On Fundraising.
Petra: Fundraising isn’t easy. Prior to starting my foundation I was never the type to ask others for things.
I don’t necessarily “sell it” but rather share the stories and if someone connects with it, they support.
What she wants someone to feel when they burn the candle?
Petra: smell is fastest to any place so in a way its like a time travel to Indonesia, Spain in the comfort of your home.
Its a scent staycation.
