The Women’s Board of the Art Institute Chicago and the Board of Trustees hosted a major celebration and preview of the upcoming “Impressionism, Fashion and Modernity” exhibit Saturday(6/22) evening. Chicago’s current power players, major civic and philanthropic leaders and next generation of power players were in attendance to get an unobstructed viewing of the Gloria Groom curated exhibit that has already been viewed in Paris’ Musée d’Orsay and New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

GRAFF which was one of the main supporters and sponsors of the event was present with several models clad in their best doamonds, emeralds, sapphires and rubies. Several wives made hints at what their next Christmas and birthday gifts should be. GRAFF CEO Henri Barguirdjian, whose company is committed to supporting philanthropic endeavors,and wife Marianne Lafiteau were one of the almost 700 hundred guests in attendance that evening. Cocktail reception in the South Garden where John and Alexandra Nichols were spotted mingling with friends and the chance to view the exhibit with Thomas Pritzker seen in deep discussion with Art Institute curator James Rondeau. Renee Crown, matriarch of THE Crown family was in attendance with her son Steven Crown his wife Nancy and several other friends.

Gloria Groom, the visionary behind the exhibit was the belle of the ball as many patrons and enthusiasts came up to congratulate her.

Many of the members of the Board of Trustees, Woman’s and Auxiliary Board we recognized that were in attendance included included: Caryn Harris wearing a fitting for the occasion J. Mendel dress and husband King Harris, Eric McKissack and wife Cheryl of Johnson Publishing, Dr. Prabhakant Sinha and his wife Anita, Marilyn and David J. Vitale, Ms. Judith Neisser with daughter Kate and John Jones, Casey and Micaela Zgutowicz, Andrew M. Rosenfield and Betsy Rosenfield. Toni Canada stunning in an Etro and husband Rick Canada, Patrick and Meredith Wood-Prince, Dr. Mark and Margot Bowen, Diane and Quintin Primo and many more.
As guests stopped through each room to marvel at the different works of art, we couldn’t help but wonder if any of the pieces on display were Eli Wilner framed? The exhibit itself is definitely a must see.
The Impressionism, Fashion and Modernity exhibit at the Art Institute Chicago,which is on our list of must see summer exhibits opens Wednesday June 26 and runs until September 22.
