- MCA Chicago installation and exclusive merch collaboration
Acclaimed streetwear designer and artist Joshua Vides known for his stencil black and white marker style, will bring that same bold black and white designs to his collab with the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (MCA Chicago) and MCA Store at The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago in the form of a unique piece of art optical illusion mural that plays with the ideas of dimension and space, titled “Forever Hallway,” that people can step inside and experience from a safe distance as well as an exclusive merch collaboration.
The art optical illusion mural, titled “Forever Hallway,” allows visitors to step into the corridor leading to the MCA Store and enter into a spiraling fantasy where the hallway seems to have no end. Museum visitors will enjoy stopping by this social media friendly photo-op before shopping the JV x MCA Essentials collection. The “Forever Hallway” installation will be on display at the MCA Store starting on Friday, October 2, 2020 through spring 2021. The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (200 E. Chicago Avenue) recently announced receiving the largest foundation grant in its history, with the $2.5 million award from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation’s new Art Museum Futures Fund that will enable the museum to take continued action in its mission to elevate contemporary art and artists, while accelerating the museum’s commitments to the values of IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity, and access). MCA Chicago was one of 12 mid-sized cultural institutions across the country to receive the grant.
The JV x MCA Essentials collection, a line of exclusive clothing and specialty accessories available in the artist’s signature, sketch art style, available in store and online starting on October 2, is inspired by his own experiences going to museums as a child. This won’t be the only collection collab Vides will be dropping with the MCA. Stay tuned for more items set to drop at the MCA Store including a limited edition Dickies Eisenhower jacket (November 12) and an exclusive Topps Baseball Card featuring Chicago Players (December 4). Below is a selection of some of the items from the JV x MCA Essentials collection available to purchase in store or online while supplies last.
Vides has a heavy hitting roster of collaboration and partnerships alongside his original works including collaborations with Nike, Woolrich and most recently Italian fashion house Fendi for a line of apparel and accessories.
