DACA STAYS, FOR NOW.  President Trump’s administrations bid to speed up ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program on March 5 has hit a snag as the Supreme Court said on Monday that it will stay out of the dispute. Originally, the Trump administration had terminated DACA but allowed a six-month grace period for anyone with status expiring in that window to renew. • Florida Sheriff Scott Isreal of Broward county is under pressure to resign after revelations that not one but at least three more armed Broward County sheriff’s deputies were present on the scene of the mass high school shooting, but they took cover behind their vehicles instead of immediately going into the school.

In Chicago news: Former Chicago Public Schools CEO, rumored to be challenging Mayor Emanuel, Paul Vallas, has lost one of his sons. Mark Vallas, 24 died in California Saturday evening though no cause of death has been revealed at this time. William Blair, a global investment banking & wealth management firm, is suing one of its former top financial advisers Jim Mabie and a team of other employees who quit with him this month to form a new firm, Crains reports. An $8.5B deal to expand O’Hare airport is in the final stages of negotiations according to reports.

Tiffany Haddish was the Rising Star award recipient. Billy Dee Williams received the ‘Hollywood Legacy Award’.
•  Black Panther continues to set records in theaters. The Marvel/Disney film grossed an estimated $108 million from 4,040 theaters in its second week out, to score the top second weekend of all time behind Star Wars: Force Awakens. Its also crossed the $700M mark globally on track to possibly make $1B after it opens in Russia on Monday, followed by Japan next weekend and China on March 9.
