Colin Kaepernick.  Sunday evening, news broke that former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is filing a grievance against the NFL owners and that’s big in the sports world, as the division in peaceful protesting of the flag deepens. Kaepernick is not going through the NFL Players Association, though he has the NFLPA support, but rather he’s being represented by power attorney Mark Geragos. He argues that the NFL and its owners “have colluded to deprive Mr. Kaepernick of employment rights in retaliation for Mr. Kaepernick’s leadership and advocacy for equality and social justice and his bringing awareness to peculiar institutions still undermining racial equality in the United States.”….Read more

T-Mobile and Sprint, according to Reuters, plan to announce a merger agreement without any immediate asset sales which means they are not trying to rock the boat with anti-trust regulators that may oppose the merger of the third and fourth largest US cell carriers. Bloomberg is saying that though the announcement might be just a few weeks away, to some investors who are in the business of speculating on M&A transactions, this one isn’t worth touching. 

 
In Chicago news: Attendees of the first leadership training day by the Obama Foundation were surprised by a visit from Barack Obama himself.  Sean “Diddy” Combs’ media brand Revolt hosted its annual ‘Revolt Music conference’ in Miami over the weekend. Queen Latifah was honored with the Jimmy Iovine Icon Award. Lauryn Hill performed an eight-song set to close out the award Saturday. The three day conference included appearances from executives in music, film and tv.
• With each day since the bombshell Harvey Weinstein sexual misconduct revelation, comes more headlines. If you’re not caught up, here’s where the saga’s been so far. The Weinstein Company co-founder and major hollywood executive was outed as a sexual predator by the New York Times and subsequently an in-depth article by Ronan Farrow in The New Yorker about his decades long sexual misconducts. Several actresses have come forward, hollywood bigwigs have condemned him, his wife is shopping for divorce lawyers as some reports say their marriage was a business arrangement and Harvey Weinstein is allegedly holed up in a rehab facility in Arizona. So now, the Academy has kicked him out, BAFTA has suspended him and his company’s board will meet on Tuesday in what TMZ is reporting will be a showdown. John Oliver is pointing out the hypocrisy of Weinstein’s case as people like Roman Polanski and Bill Cosby, are still on the academy.

• Donna Karan is backtracking after being hit with backlash following her “asking for it” comments supporting Harvey Weinstein. She gave her first interview since her comments last week, to WWD. Speaking of the Weinstein saga, it’s been rumored that employees of Weinstein’s estranged wife’s fashion brand, Marchesa, which she co-founded with Karen Craig, are making a beeline for the exits as the future of the biz hangs. Rent the Runway Founder Jennifer Hyman talks about her plans to put Zara out of business as they expand their unlimited subscription option. Lastly, Anna Wintour is on the cover of Adweek chronicling her career from her start as Vogue’s first creative director in 1980 to now a cultural icon.
