• Early this morning, what reports describe as a homemade bomb with a timer, exploded on a London commuter train and 22 people are injured though no deaths reported so far. The incident occurred at the Parsons Green underground station in West London. The search is on to find other bombs, if in existence, and also the suspects as authorities are calling it a terror incident. The alleged bomb was a white bucket with a supermarket freezer bag on the floor of a train carriage. The bucket was in flames and there appeared to be wires coming out of the top. Without details on the actual suspects, US president Trump took to twitter and UK PM Theresa May is slamming his tweets. This story is still developing.
• No more autoplay videos, at least when browsing in Chrome. You know those annoying videos that just start up as soon as you land on a webpage, well coming soon with Chrome 64, auto video playback will only be allowed if sound isn’t played or if the user has shown interest in the clip. Google, in a class action lawsuit, is being sued for bias against women in pay and promotions.
• Now that Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is back from a nearly weeklong business trip to Israel, its all hands on deck for the case to make Chicago Amazon’s Q2 location. Dnainfo reports that “Emanuel again touted Chicago’s status as the No. 1 city in the country for corporate relocations for the fourth year in a row.” Crains is certainly doing their part in that whole full court press manner b/c its Amazon this and that. Speaking of Chicago, a recent Census data that was released Thursday shows Hispanics are officially the second-largest ethnic or racial group in Chicago with 29.7% of the city’s population. The population climbed 17,751 over the previous year to 803,476. Meanwhile the black population dropped by more than 40,000 in one year. The largest racial group in Chicago is white residents. The Chicago-Columbus-Pittsburg route has been chosen as one of Hyperloop One’s 10 submissions they will seek to develop for the ultra-fast tube transportation system startup. This could mean a half hour ride from Columbus, OH to Chicago, IL.

• Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foudation’s Diamond Ball was held in NYC’s Cipriani Wall Street Thursday night and everyone came out including Jay-Z and Beyoncé. Dave Chappelle hosted the event with performances by Kendrick Lamar and Calvin Harris.
• The 69th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air this Sunday, hosted by Stephen Colbert on CBS. “Westworld” and “Saturday Night Live” lead the 2017 nominations with 22 nods. The Hollywood Reporter got an anonymous member of the TV academy to give honest view about the ballots in which he explains why ‘Atlanta’ just “isn’t funny, at least to an old white guy like me,” hating House of Cards and enjoying Master of None more in theory than I do in practice. • Ebay is partnering with Spring, the startup online retailer selling men’s, women’s and lifestyle items, for an online boutique offering brands like Chloe, David Yurman and Rag & Bone. In fashion media news, WWD is throwing some shade at the New York Times for their recent coverage of Cindi Leive’s departure from Glamour vs their coverage of Graydon Carter’s. Leive’s appeared in the Styles section of the paper whereas Carter’s exit was in Business Day. Speaking of Graydon Carter, is Janice Min going to fill the Vanity Fair EIC role? She was spotted meeting with Conde Nast execs. Min’s tenure at US Weekly and then The Hollywood Reporter has had positive impacts on their content and business.
