Last Thursday (11/13) The Museum of Science and Industry celebrated wearable technology and honored a pioneer in fashion blogging, Garance Doré. The benefit which was a fusion of fashion and technology
honored the French blogger, photographer, illustrator and author Garance Doré.

Featuring an installation of curated cutting-edge wearable technology including the “Galaxy Dress,” the world’s largest wearable LED display, as well as other designs from the innovators at CuteCircuit, and Switch Embassy.

The Fashion Inspiration award that was presented to Ms. Doré was actually made with a 3D printer, so cool!

Following the VIP reception for guests and host committee that included Annie Barlow, Nikia Jefferson and Melvin Jefferson, II, Elissa Efroymson and Adnaan Hamid, Lema Khorshid, Swathi Narra, John Roa, Neal Zucker, Amy Creyer to name a few, guests took in the performance from ChiARTs dancers. ChiARTS is the only public arts high school in Chicago whose mission is to provide artistically gifted, diverse Chicago high school students intensive pre-professional training in the arts in addition to a rigorous school curriculum.

Guests got a chance to view the one night only wearable technology exhibit and chat up the innovative makers featuring designers Boogio, Swich Embassy, Diffus design, Atelier Leonleon and umbilical support.

With DJ Matt Roan on music, it was like Night At The Museum Nightclub. We got the beats and the chance to check out the other exhibits currently on display at MSI such as Numbers In Nature: A Mirror Maze, a trippy and fun experience.

With wearable technology’s proliferation growing, this may be an event that returns next year and we wonder who will be honored? Some names to throw in would be Tory Burch, Natalie Massanet, founder of Net-A-Porter or Ben Shaffer who was the Nike fuelband designer and now over at Apple.
