“If you don’t wake up everyday excited to go do what you’re doing then you shouldn’t be doing it… love what you do, otherwise it’s a waste of your time, creative energy and life.” fashion blogger Jacey Duprie

Damsel in Dior blogger Jacey Duprie was part of the five-women Fashion & Beauty Panel hosted by E! News anchor Catt Sadler. The Simply Stylist Chicago networking event held at the Dana Hotel and Spa Vertigo Sky Lounge included celebrity stylist Trish Townsend, celebrity makeup artist Tia DantzlerStacey Roney-founder of on-line video magazine Glossed & Found and Corri McFadden owner of luxury consignment service eDrop-off.

For their first event in Chicago, Simply Stylist founder Sarah Boyd aimed to “create a platform for girls to come and if they want to be a stylist blogger or journalist to get in the industry. I’m opening up the door to get their foot in.”

With past events in New York, Dallas, and Los Angeles, Simply Stylist presents industry tips and tools to those interested in fashion, styling, and beauty. After a networking brunch, attendees had questions and comments addressed during the panel which was followed by a meet & greet. The common thread between all the speakers is that one needs to have a large online and social media presence. Each recommended the Internet as a vehicle to get your name and work out there, whether through blogging, vlogging or tweeting.

“Be your own agent, invest in yourself and in your brand… Take yourself out of the box and start meeting people” advised Corri McFadden.
