DUSABLE MUSEUM DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. CELEBRATION

Celebrate with the DuSable Museum on Monday, January 21, 2013 for our annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration! The theme for this year’s celebration is, “Nothing Without a Demand,” commemorating the legacy of many of the iconic men and women that help to shape and advance Civil and Human Rights throughout America. This day long affair is filled with live performances, dance, films, and art to inspire, entertain, and educate all audiences.
This historic day begins with the inauguration of President Barack Obama, for his second term as President of the United States of America. Our inauguration broadcast begins at 10:30AM, and will end following President Obama’s inaugural address. DETAILS

Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center performs at Harris Theater. Winners of the Michael Hill International Violin Competition will perform Jan. 24 on the Harris Theater stage, alongside renowned and unequalled Co-Artistic Directors of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, David Finckel and Wu Han. The pre-series special concert “Horizons” kicks off the second year of CMSLC’s critically acclaimed three-year residency at the Harris Theater.
Sir Michael Hill will not only share the fruits of his musical talent findings, but he also will give attendees the chance to enjoy his love of diamonds. The first 1,000 audience members will receive a special box. Almost all boxes will contain a cubic zirconium, but there’s a sparkling catch. One of the boxes will hold a striking 1-carat diamond. Will you be the lucky recipient?

First Bites Bash is the official kick-off event for Chicago Restaurant Week, produced by Choose Chicago. Chef Dirk Flanigan (most formerly of Gage/Henri) will host this year’s event, from which a portion of the proceeds will benefit Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

30th Anniversary of the Black Creativity Gala, one of the Museum’s high-profile fundraising events. The Gala is attended by over 800 guests annually.
