Best Dressed Women At 2018 Met Gala

Another year has come and here we are discussing another Met gala. The Costume Institute’s Met Gala, aka the Super Bowl of Fashion taking place on “The First Monday in May,” is the fundraising event that benefits New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute and serves as a preview of the Costume Institute’s Spring exhibition, for those invited to attend. Over the years, the gala has morphed from an insiders gathering of the elite and powerful in fashion, corporate and philanthropy world into a global spectacle that even has its own red carpet special akin to the Oscars, Emmys, Grammys and a documentary, “The First Monday in May.” Vogue Editor in chief and Conde Nast creative director Anna Wintour has been chair of the gala since 1995.

This year’s theme, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & The Catholic Imagination, which is also the title of the museum’s exhibit saw stars and their stylists uphold the theme by presenting their own interpretations with Vogue describing the dress code on the invitation as “Sunday Best.” I’ve scoured galleries of photos on the cream, not red, carpet to bring you our ‘Met Gala 2018 Best Dressed Ladies.”  The top 5 are the best of the best but in no particular order. There were many who had the potential to really pull off a great look but somehow fell short of goal, looking at you Anthony Vacarello and your Saint Laurent crew, Kerry Washington, Sienna Miller, Alicia Vikander, and Issa Rae. Also can we stop fashion worshipping Alexa Chung because based on her Met Gala outfit she’s not it! Don’t even get me started on Mindy Kaling’s outfit.
PS: real Chicagoans know that when they hear Heavenly Bodies, the first thing that comes to mind is the commercial on the radio usually on B96, with the breathy whisper Heaaavenly booodies. Check out the best dressed below.
