What happens when the venue of your annual bash, that sees a record amount of young professionals dressed to the nines, is no longer available? If you’re the planning committee for the Junior Council of The Ann & Robert. H Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago’s Snowball event, you work fast and pick a venue large enough to accommodate at least 2,000 people and that they did.
Though Snowball has generally always taken place at Union Station for as long as we can remember, due to the venue’s revamp, they had to find another space and the Field Museum with Sue as a backdrop was the perfect location to celebrate the 29th annual black tie event.
Guests streamed in dressed in ball gowns, tuxes, suits, cocktail dresses, comfortable yet dressy flats and high to the sky heels, ready for a night of FUNdraising. Last year’s $235,000 raised inthe Pediatric & Adolescent HIV & AIDS programs of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, was surpassed with another record setting amount of $240,000!
The VIP guests we tucked away upstairs where the bar situation proved to be a more flowing feat than of years past. Open bar, combined with different food tasting stations from some of Chicago favorite restaurants AND pizza was the right combo for the evening. Add to that The Rod Tuffcurls band, who had guests packing the makeshift dance floor area dancing and singing along. It was a great night for a great cause and once again, proud to have SociaLifeChicago involved as a media sponsor.
This year’s Snowball 2017 committee chaired by Kelly Clark included: Jeron Hernandez, Deepthi B, Grace Sweeney, Patrick Elwood, Katherine Heppard, Erin Alanna, Katie Fox, Todd Shamlin, Kelly Eisele, Gen Matthews, Zack Brenner, Lizzie Ranshaw, Ray Waters and last year’s chair Annie Hudson.
