3 Ways To Slay A Faux Leather Skirt

“Fashion is the armor to survive the reality of everyday life.” – Bill Cunningham

Welcome to 3|Way Slay. In this weekly column, I will give you tips on how to wear a statement piece, three ways. Whether its for the career driven professional, laid back creative or someone looking for date night, weekend attire inspiration.

I began my journey to a purged yet curated closet after reading, and by read I mean skimming through Japanese organizing consultant and author Marie Kondo’s New York Times bestseller The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up. The book invites its readers to possess only the clothing and other items that bring you joy. Many of us have items in our closet that we haven’t worn in years and those pieces are just taking up precious space. The discipline behind 3|Way Slay is to get you to invest in pieces that can be worn many different ways for many years to come. My hope is that instead of mindlessly buying trendy pieces of clothing that you’ll wear a few times before throwing to the back of your closet, you begin to take stock of what you welcome into your closet that will continue to express your individuality, over time. Below you will find the 3 different ways I’ve styled my favorite olive faux leather skirt from the Who What Wear X Target Collection. I styled this skirt for three occasions: Going on your 3rd date, a professional look channeling boss lady Mellody Hobson and a day strolling through the neighborhood or park.

This look is cute and comfy enough for that splendid third date that just doesn’t want to end.

A light washed denim jacket with fleece lining dresses down the faux leather skirt for a cozy stroll around the neighborhood or brunch with friends.
