Fall gala season is in full swing and on a crisp late summer evening, many of Chicago’s philanthropic & social crowd made the trek to Chicago’s north suburb (Glencoe) for Chicago Botanic Garden’s Harvest Ball. This annual event, now in its 18th year, usually brings the who’s who  young leaders of the North shore, neighboring suburbs and Chicago, plus friends and supporters of The Guild of the Chicago Botanic Garden.

On Saturday Sept. 17, with over 300 guests in attendance, the Guild raised $335,000 that will support the Garden’s Science Career Continuum (SCC), which reaches into Chicago neighborhoods with engaging, hands-on science exploration for low-income students who will be first-generation college students.

Harvest Ball, co-chaired by Sophie Goodwillie and Leslie Martin, began with a cocktail reception and silent auction in McGinley Pavilion followed by dinner on the Esplanade in a tented pavilion.
The live auction led by John Walcher was highlighted by a seven-night escape for ten guests to the Casa de Campo Resort in the Caribbean; Maxie Clarke, Whitley Bouma Herbert and Sarah Vaile were the auction co-chairs.
