FIRE SAAAALE! Ok so don’t get too excited it has not been confirmed but word on the street, at least according to a report from WWD is that Scoop NYC has closed its 10,000-square-foot flagship at 473 Broadway in SoHo and is in the process of evaluating the future of its other stores. Right now the Scoop began liquidation sales offering 10% off in stores and online. A call to the Gold coast location didn’t reveal much only to confirm that they are having the sale, there may be more to come and they are uncertain what’s going to happen in the future as management haven’t really told them much.
According to the report, Scoop NYC has been challenged with high rents and overly-large footprints
and bankruptcy proceedings have apparently been ruled out.
Scoop was founded by Stefani Greenfield and Uzi Ben-Avraham in 1996 with their first store in Soho, an was acquired by Ron Burkle’s Yucaipa Cos. in 2007.
As of Monday 5/9, WWD reports that all 15 Scoop NYC stores nationwide will be closing.
