The scoop: “The Noteworthy Night: Game On!” was chaired by Sheila C. Johnson, CYSO alumna and Vice Chairman/Owner of Monumental Sports & Entertainment, President and Managing Partner of the WNBA’s Washington Mystics, and CEO of Salamander Hotels & Resorts, the event raised $230,000 to benefit CYSO’s music training and education programs. Polk Bros. Foundation received the 2016 “Note of Excellence” award. well-known singer and speaker Wayne Messmer narrated Casey at the Bat, with musical accompaniment provided by Symphony Orchestra. After Party was held in the Four Season’s State Room where guests enjoyed an open bar, ballpark snacks, and danced into the night.

Event: Woman’s Board’s Compassionate Care Awards

The scoop: The Woman’s Board of Northwestern Memorial Hospital hosted the 25th Anniversary of the Nora Cooney Marra Compassionate Care Awards recognizing three exceptional care givers in Chicago. The 2016 award recipients were Mario J Pineda, MD/PhD, Department of Gynecology, Division of Gynecologic Oncology; Erin Pettijohn, MD, Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology; and Lauren Socol, MA, LSW, Social Worker. The Woman’s Board of Northwestern Memorial Hospital established the Compassionate Care Awards in 1991.
