Hotness In The News Wednesday January 13

“So this here is the victory lap, then I’m lea-vin,” a lyric from ‘Encore’ off Jay Z’s “The Black Album” sums up President Obama’s final State of the Union address last night. From calling on VP Joe Biden to head up what he calls a moonshot cure for cancer to make America the country that cures cancer once and for all,  one of his many “mic drop” anecdotes last night was ‘If you doubt America’s commitment – or mine – to see that justice is done, ask Osama bin Laden,’ and a jab at Trump, snap! The president also touched on the Affordable Care Act aka Obamacre, Wall Street’s recklessness and ending with “That’s the America I know. That’s the country we love. Clear-eyed. Big-hearted. Optimistic that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.”  South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, daughter of Indian immigrants, was chosen to deliver the Republican rebuttal and with radiant white teeth and a flattering blue suit delivered it way better than Bobby Jindal could. In her speech she said “During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices, we must resist that temptation. No one who is willing to work hard, abide by our laws and love our traditions should ever feel unwelcome in this country.” The lowest common denominator was Donald Trump and his hate mongering rhetorics.
