“I believe the ability to think is blessed. If you can think about a situation, you can deal with it. The big struggle is to keep your head clear enough to think.” ― Richard Pryor
Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s apology at the City council meeting of Aldermen yesterday drew headlines as some speculated on the sincerity of the emotionally laced speech on police accountability. Meanwhile outside, protesters gathered calling for his resignation and that of Anita Alvarez circled city hall before continuing the march through the loop. Several news outlets outside of Chicago have been investigating alleged coverups in the police department since the Laquan McDonald tapes were released.
SAN BERNARDINO SHOOTERS UPDATES
As the federal investigation continues into the what, why and how of the San Bernardino shootings that killed 14 people and injured 21 by Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik, more details are coming out. The couple received an unsecured $28,000 loan from an online lender two weeks prior to the shooting. It seems Syed Farook had planned a previous attack with another accomplice or accomplices as early as 2011 or 2012 but got spooked. Enrique Marquez, the neighbor currently admitted to a facility, who bought the two assault-style rifles Farook and his wife used has been questioned multiple times by investigators. He married Mariya Chernykh in 2014; Chernykh’s sister is married to Syed Raheel Farook, the shooter’s older brother, so Enriquez’ marriage may have been an arranged situation since both sister came to the US on J-1 visas. This is starting to sound like a 24 show, no?
