The scoop: The Eva Longoria’s Foundation raised funds to support the Foundation’s mission to help Latinas build better futures for themselves and their families through education and entrepreneurship at their fourth annual dinner. Longoria spoke about the launch of the Foundation’s nationwide Latina mentorship network and its 2015 Parent Engagement Convening, which brought 40 top experts together to find ways to involve exponentially more parents in their children’s education as the events premiere sponsor, Target, announced an additional $100,000 contribution to the Foundation.

The scoop: YMCA’s The Y. So Much More Recognition Dinner, this year co-chaired by Amy Carbone, Sharon Fairley and Joe Tilson, shines a spotlight on programs that reflect the Y’s mission to develop strong children, families and healthy communities across Metropolitan Chicago. Emceed by WMAQ-TV reporter LeeAnn Trotter, the YMCA Recognition Dinner featured Kelly Hall YMCA member & guest speaker Christian Washington, honored The Robert R. McCormick Foundation with the Y’s “More Than a Partner” Award which was accepted by its President and CEO David Hiller. Chairman of Sage Products and philanthropist Vince Foglia was honored with the “More Than a Leader” Award.

Event: HYDE PARK ART CENTER GALA

The scoop: More than 400 guests raised more than $476,000 celebrate the unveiling of the Guida Family Creative Wing and to honor esteemed members of the Chicago arts community, Janis Kanter, Tom McCormick and the Kanter Family Foundation, and renowned artists Judy Ledgerwood and Tony Tasset. The successful event was led by co-chairs Yumi and Douglas Ross and Michelle Ha Tucker and John Tucker.
Pillars of the Chicago cultural community, including Theaster Gates, Kavi Gupta, Amy Rule, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, and Judith Kirschner, gathered at Hyde Park Art Center for a night of cocktails, dinner, and entertainment. explored the new artist studios in the Guida Family Creative Wing. Helyn Goldenberg of Sotheby’s Chicago led a live auction that included experiences such as a one-on-one outing and original painting by artist Amanda Williams; a cocktail party for ten at the Stony Island Arts Bank; and a weekend art excursion to Michigan that included a tour of Judy Ledgerwood and Tony Tasset’s new home and studio.
