We may not yet be at the level where getting invited to the annual conference aka ‘billionaire summer camp’ is a reality (hello vision board), we are inspired by those that are there “in the room” making deals and making more money. The annual Allen & Company conference in Sun Valley, Idaho began Tuesday and some of the bold name faces in the world of tech and media in attendance joining Chicago CEOs Jerry Reinsdorf-owner of Chicago Bulls+ Chicago White Sox, Groupon CEO Eric Lefkofsky and McDonald’s CEO Steve Easterbrook were a mix of the old and new guard from different industries (tech, sports, media, hollywood and even fashion) including IAC Chairman Barry Diller (his portfolio company Match Group is led by Sam Yagan) with Diane von Furstenberg, NewsCorp’s Rupert Murdoch, with Tesla’s Elon Musk, Apple’s Tim Cook, Disney’s CEO Bob Iger, François-Henri Pinault CEO of Kering, CBS Les Moonves, Snapchat’s Evan Spiegel, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, former CEO of Twitter Dick Costolo and co-founder and current CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey, General Motors CEO Mary Barra, founder and CEO of Amazon.com and Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos, Airbnb’s Brian Chesky, Spanx creator Sara Blakely, Alice + Olivia founder Stacey Bendet, Robert Kraft owner of the New England Patriots and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to name a few.
Though no media or press is allowed to attend the actual conference one can assume deals will be made and some surprise mergers may come about as it has in years past, and of course a breakdown of just why Scott Disick & Kourtney Kardashian couldn’t make it work discussed over dessert.
The Allen & Company Sun Valley Conference, in Sun Valley, Idaho, is an annual media finance conference hosted and independently funded by private investment firm Allen & Company for one week each July since 1983.
Mr. Lefkofsky and wife Liz, who have taken the Wealth pledge are also founders of the Lefkofsky Family Foundation; he is on the board of the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, The Museum of Contemporary Art, the Board of Governors and Board of Directors at School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
