They say the journey isn’t sprint but a marathon. Truth be told at the end of the day, it’s who truly brings it that goes home the winner. Pro athletes train countless hours to have their moment to shine and sink the win when it truly counts and thanks to their all star team, these leading ladies had their moments leading up to this and they came with it giving all sorts of life in their attire choice for the Oscars, which culminates the whirlwind award season.
From nominees Sienna Miller, Julianne Moore, Rosamund Pike, presenters Lupita Nyong’o, Jennifer Lopez to Oscar performer Lady Gaga whose voice reminded us that she is more than skin dresses and theatrics, with the way she belted the Sound of Music tribute. The Emmys, Golden Globes, Baftas, SAGs all led up to this moment and our picks for Best Dresesd Women at the Oscars, were stunning.
Prior to last night, Julianne Moore had literally slayed each red carpet moment, capping it with a drop the mic moment after saying Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld personally made the dress for her, #LEVELS.
Lupita Nyong’o who took our breathe away last year did not disappoint wearing every curve of the pearl beaded Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein creation. Did you see her walk in that dress though?! She was serving Bawwdeee!
Jennifer Lopez, has also been killing it lately and thanks to her ace styling team of Mariel Haenn and Rob Zangardi she won the figurative gold medal in this Elie Saab couture dress! Boobs not too flashy, low key but statement makeup and that body, wonder if she still uses Scott Barnes for that signature JLo glow? It almost came to a who wore it best situation because Robert Duvall’s wife, Lucianna, also wore an almost similar dress but 96% vote goes to Jlo.
Lady Gaga though most won’t see it, stunned in the custom Azzedine Alaïa dress that was truly against the grain and fashion at its best. There are those who buy Alaïa off the rack and those who THE Azzedine Alaïa says I will make something for you, if you fit into the latter lets be friends, please. The gloves may have taken it a tad overboard but what’s fashion without a little fun? It was love, love, love. Somehow wished she had saved this for a MetBall but then again she was singing a tribute to The Sound of Music, she could do no wrong.
Sienna Miller, has been slowly winning the red carpet leading up to this moment and its a win in Oscar for Oscar. Veering from the bright colors and blush that ruled the red carpet, the dark dark blue/black was a statement maker especially with the detailing at the bottom. Oscar De la Renta will be smiling down as she walked down red carpet in this Peter Copping creation from his first collection for Oscar de La Renta, and we can be assured he will carry on his legacy.
There was something old Hollywood about the Elie Saab dress Emma Stone wore to the Oscars and the light green worked. It was a risky dress that basically covered everything but the hint of leg, bold lip and cuffs on both arms made it work.
Classy but safe is how to categorize Reese Witherspoon‘s Tom Ford dress. The periwinkle/powder blue color on her worked but not as big of an impact as the Nina Ricci she wore at a past Oscar. The hair/makeup jewelry combo made the look all come together to make best dressed.
Rosamund Pike in this Givenchy red absolutely redeemed herself from the Golden Globes white dress. The color, the fit, the slit, the shape! Everything about this dress was just right for the Oscars and once again minimal jewelry and soft hair and makeup, perfection!
At the end of the day, the real winners were the Behind the Scenes MVP we didn’t see. The glam squad from Micaela Erlanger, Leslie Framer, Rob Zangradi & Mariel Haenn, that collaborated with these stars for their moment, kudos to them.
