A wave of companies that were founded practically with the current digital media revolution, are now investing in brick and mortar to have their consumers experience the brand on another level, TOMS is setting up shop in Chicago following openings from other brand like Warby Parker and Tie Bar.
TOMS, founded by Blake Mycoskie matches every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One.®
The TOMS Chicago location will be the fourth US retail location, following their Venice, CA flagship in 2012, and the 2014 openings in Austin, TX and Portland, OR.
The store is located right off the Blue Line in the former Caribou Coffee shop space at 1611 N. Damen
“This store’s design takes the global aesthetic synonymous with TOMS and fuses it with inspiration drawn from Chicago’s industrial architecture. The result is an inviting space that highlights the best of both brand and city.
As guests enter, they will find a banquet cafe seating area; designed for shoppers to enjoy a cup of coffee with friends, work on a term paper, or just kick back and take a little break. We are also equipped with free WiFi so visitors can buckle down and work away or quickly check their social feeds. The space is furnished with pieces from a variety of artisanal furniture designers, including Lamon Luther, a Georgia based furniture company, which employs formerly homeless carpenters.”
Nestled in the back will be their full-service coffee bar, brewing TOMS Roasting Co. lattes, cappuccinos, teas, and seasonal coffee creations as well as serving an assortment of fresh pastries and pressed juices.
TOMS will celebrate their new Chicago outpost with a launch party and DJ set from Wild Belle. Welcome to Chicago!
