Diptyque’s La Collection 34 which is now available in stores an online, is a celebration of the company’s founding roots. The collection consists of not only products Diptyque is famously known for, personal and home fragrances, but also a collection of eclectic objects such as post cards, notebooks and scents that was reminiscent of the boutique in the early 1960s. When Diptyque was originally founded back in the 60’s by three friends Desmond Knox-Leet, Yves Coueslant, and Christiane Gautrot it was nicknamed “merchant of everything” by French restaurant guide Gault & Millau. 34 boulevard Saint Germain was the location of its iconic first boutique. They are now revisiting the bazaar concept offering with a collaboration from designers Papier Tigre to create notebooks, postcards and calendar.
Last year they introduced the laser etched home diffusers, now it can be paired with the foliage etched candle holder Feuillage photophore
The personal fragrance such as Essences Insensées was inspired by “a thousand flowers” it has a clean, in a sophisticated baby powder scent.
You can check out the collection at the Chicago Diptyque store in Bucktown(1645 N Damen Ave), the scents alone is worth the trip.
