Chicago’s blow dry scene is about to get a new friend in Drybar. The company which opened its first location in Brentwood, CA about 4 years ago and has since spawned 33 other locations nationwide in Dallas, New York City, San Francisco, Washington DC, will open it’s door to Chicago’s chic and fab this Friday. The company was founded by Alli Webb and was the first of it’s kind.
Since we are smack in holiday prep season, we chatted with Drybar Founder Alli Webb on all things hair for the holiday and tips and products to keep you looking great after your 9-5.
SociaLifeChicago: Why did you decide to open a location in Chicago?
Alli: Since we opened in Brentwood California about 4 years ago we’ve opened Drybar in lots of diff markets and found that there was a need and need and demand in other markets like Chicago. We have had clients place many requests and Chicago is a hip metropolitan and we are excited to get there listen to clients and go where they wants
SLC: Why Lincoln Park?
AW: In terms of location we look for areas where women can do a lot of things like go shopping at whole foods,
SLC: What are some day to night hair tips:
AW: If you are going from day to night, put your hair into sock bun. If you have bangs brush them out. Add a couple of bobby pins to pull the sides of the hair back and tease the crown. Don’t be afraid to use accessories bands, hair accessories shimmer and glimmer especially those going out to parties right after work.
SLC: How can someone with short hair maintain curls?
its easy to use and gives nice loose curl. In order to have nice waves work in vertical sections not horizontal, side to side. Short hair will benefit from our 1″ 1.25″ curl irons.

AW: Definitely not, men are welcome we just don’t get a lot of them.
