Chicago Bull & Chicago White Sox Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf was recently honored by the Women’s Board of Chicago’s Children’s Home + Aid on Friday Sept. 6. The Pauline K. Palmer Award, named after the Women’s Board first president  Mrs. Potter Palmer, was presented to the Chicago White Sox owner  for his role in building a strong partnership between the Chicago White Sox and Children’s Home + Aid that has benefited thousands of youth in Illinois.


The black tie event held at the Four Seasons Chicago was co-chaired by Andrea Thome-wife of former Chicago Whitesox great Jim Thome- and was emceed by WGN Chicago’s Micah Materre where over 350 guests attended.

The gala which is one of the Women’s Board of Children’s Home + Aid major annual fundraiser raised over $550,000 to benefit groups such as Children’s Home + Aid’s Mitzi Freidheim Englewood Child + Family Center and the Marletta Darnall Schaumburg Child + Family Center. The centers  offer children ages six weeks to six years programs such as Head Start, Early Head Start and Raising a Reader. It also provides GED and parenting programs for families living in Englewood and surrounding communities.


Children’s Home + Aid serves nearly 40,000 children and families in need to overcome the overwhelming obstacles of poverty, abuse and neglect through their social service programs throughout 40 Illinois counties. The Woman’s Board  founded in 1920, is comprised of nearly 70 Chicago Metro women dedicated to supporting children and families in Illinois
