Single In The City? Meet Ian Hill*

In the past ‘Single in the City’ which stemmed out of a really trying experience for me, but there was still an underlying issue that I felt needed to be addressed, the honest fact of being single and how it sucks.

Seriously have you ever come home to an empty apt with no special flowers, wish you had a partner you can call midday when things feel really shiteous? The truth is a lot of people talk about ways to not be single but if that were the case we would all be partnered up but its not. Some of us are single because we have busy lives, some because we’ve been deeply hurt and the scar hasn’t healed, or perhaps “the right one” hasn’t come along. Here’s where our  ‘Single In The City’ profiles come in. Each week we select someone and present them to you, anonymously,of course.
Welcome to the new Single In the City, where we give  single and awesome Chicagoans a chance to tell us a bit about themselves and who knows SociaLifeChicago may be the conduit for your next lasting relationship.

When we first began the search for singles to profile, we found a few hesitant people willing to divulge much.  We decided to present all profiled  anonymous and we kind of like it that way. If you or would like to nominate someone for a ‘Single In The City’ profile email us.

Ladies and Gentlemen meet Ian Hill*

Name: hahaha very funny Bolaji Ian Hill*
Occupation: I work in finance/trading
Sexual Orientation: Straight
School: I went to a PAC-12 school Go Cardinals!
Height: I am over 5’10”

What was the last good book you read?  Thats a good question.  It could be the fact that I have had a bit of chaos in my life not too long ago but “Antifragile: Things That Gain from Disorder” by Nassim Nicholas Taleb was the last good book I read. It provides a different paradigm to see the world which I greatly respect and enjoy.

How long have you been single? Since around February so about 6 or so months.

What is it like to be a single man in Chicago? Thats tricky and interesting. Since I got out of a serious relationship trying to find a balance is hard you know? I’m not looking for a fling or one night stand(not that there’s anything wrong with that) but I’m not looking for anything really serious either. I also want to evaluate the potential partner, it’s not wrong to evaluate it would be a waste of your time if you didn’t and don’t see that person as a potential partner. so I guess I would say it’s interesting being a single man in Chicago.

What Qualities Are You Looking For in A Partner? Someone that’s smart for sure not necessarily book smart but someone I can hold engaging conversation with. Witty, pleasing to my eyes and driven.

When you’re not working what do you like to do? Right now I’m training for a half marathon so running has been a big part of my life, volleyball and hanging with my boys.

Ian Why Are you Single? (He laughs) Life circumstances. My ex wanted a break so I gave it to her.

If you could have dinner conversation with 1 person dead or alive who would it be and why? Seth Klarman. He owns a private equity firm and I appreciate his philosophy. He’s one of the rare conservative investors in that line of work.
