Friday evening(8/9), on a beautiful Chicago night, philanthropic fashion lovers gathered at the Harris Theater for the extravaganza that is Macy’s Glamorama. The theme for this year ‘Fashion in a New Light’ was reflected in the runway show that featured design houses Jean Paul Gaultier, Rachel Rachel Roy, Tommy Hilfiger, Diesel, Maison Jules, Max Mara Weekender, TALLIA Orange and My StyleLab.
Macy’s Glamorama had a spectacular performance by Cirque du Soleil Mystere; musical guests The Summer Set(winners of Macy’s iheart Radio contest) performed and Sheryl Crow closed out the night with new music and her known hits; The charity that benefitted from the Chicago leg of Glamorama was the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana.
The evening began with remarks by Macy’s Chairman President/CEO Terry Lundgren and then a touching video of the Ronald McDonald House charity ambassador family-Neilah and Jaden Maule and their parents. While driving one day the girls were hit by a drunk driver which left both sisters severely injured. Neilah was ejected from her seatbelt fastened seat and her sister had multiple glass shards on her body. After being transferred from La Porte Indiana to the University of Chicago and then to the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC), where Neilah began to communicate. The family stayed at the Ronald McDonald House which was helpful for their family and Neilah’s care.
The fashion show included the futuristic gypsy looks from Jean Paul Gaultier but the crowd pleaser was the DIESEL segment that opened with the male models clothed and swiftly all baring their sculpted bodies in their underwear. TALLIA Orange really was our favorite with the men’s line showcasing smart jackets and lots of bow ties.
Maison Jules which is a line targeted towards Macy’s millennial consumer was Parisian chic and opened with models riding around Martone* bikes(seriously OB.SESSED) with these bikes.
The fashion show ended and guests headed to the Harris Theater rooftop with Patron photobooths, Lancome makeup touchup station, DJ high atop the crowd and delicious PATRON Glamorama drinks and nosh. 2 of the kids from the fashion show treated guests to danceoff-below.
Great night of Fashion for a good cause.
