Many times, the people that work behind the scenes making the scene rarely get recognized for their work. SociaLifeChicago will spotlight the amazing people that make you, your organization and your event look great.
Being that bridal season is currently underway, we spoke with Cara and Scott Nava of Carasco Photography and the founders of Brides, Bubbles and Bliss which will take place May 1 at Bridgeport Art Center.
What made you want to create this event?
We wanted to create an event that bridged the gap between what you see in New York and LA and give the Midwest its own version of a fashion driven Avant Garde bridal show.
When we first started Brides, Bubbles and Bliss, it was a small, invite only word of mouth event that was held at the Tasting room. We hand picked the brides and guests and featured some new designers as well, one of them was picked up by Belle Vie.
We are very lucky to have been able to grow it ever since and we continue to add more designers.
What do you hope guests get from attending Brides Bubbles & Bliss?
We want to make it feel more like a soiree than say a typical vendor fair. We want to help be a part of celebrating the day. Grooms to be are very much welcome because they are part of the day. Our event is for the modern bride and groom with discerning taste. We want our event to stand out. We help narrow choices for the bride. We could have a Marchesa dress, Oscar de la Renta to Alice Padrul. This year we will have a design challenge with 2 florists and event planner, jewell catering will present tastings. We want to marry fashion & decor elements. The event will also benefit Heartland Alliance Organization.
What do you think makes people(vendors and clients) working with you?
Part of what makes it a success are the people we surround ourselves with. We have BB TV which we use as a way to give tips and tricks by industry professionals. Also the fashion/editorial driven style photography sets us and our company, Carasco Photography, apart. We continue to re-invent because we never want to present a “copy and paste” event. Our goal is to set the bar for the guests at the event with the experience. Each vendor we work with has something special to bring to the table.
What advice can you give to someone looking to do wedding photography?
Education! Education! Education!
Knowing what you’re getting into. Wedding day(the actual day of) photography is not like a commercial shoot or an event. Anything can change at any given moment so you have to be able to think on your toes. You have to be sensitive to what people are going through.
We would definitely recommend doing a lot of homework and talking to other photographers to get their perspectives. Making sure to build your community and know what’s involved.
Advice for those currently going through the process of planning their nuptials?
Make sure to have a realistic budget. Do all your research up front and what what style you are looking for NOT based on price. The more you trust the professional the greater chance of a well executed and successful wedding. Try not to hire a professional based on price but rather the relationship. It’s important to have a good relationship with the event professional you will be working with. Planners can save you money because they know the industry.
Your event Brides Bubbles & Bliss takes place May 1, what can guests in attendance expect?
Expect to be inspired! Our event will show you different wedding possibilities. From fashion to table arrangements, cakes, bridal makeup and so much more in a relaxed atmosphere. Its a low pressure soiree where you get to sip champagne, walk around and talk with our hand selected vendors without over saturating your senses. There truly is something for everyone at the event including the groom.
We hope guests can take inspiration for their wedding day from what they see at Brides, Bubbles & Bliss.
