Though Chicagoans are still staring at mounds of fresh snow, that doesn’t mean we can’t look forward to some of the great things we love about summertime Chi such as Ravinia music festival in Highland Park. If you’ve never experienced the awesome of Ravinia, well you just absolutely MUST! It’s time to whip out your calendar and begin planning. Between the months June and early part of September, the outdoor music venue hosts an eclectic variety of music that ranges from mainstream artists toclassical to youth symphony groups. We love it because you get the opportunity to take the metra train up north(drunk driving is a NO NO), oh and the fact that you can consume copious amount of wine and food in public with no judgement? yes please.
With acts that include Sting(June 7), Josh Groban(Aug 10.), Lang Lang, Anita Baker and Itzhak Perlman, Willie Nelson, Jewel, A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keilor(June 22), Alabama, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings(June 25) to name a few there’s definitely something for everyone. Our advice is make sure you check the calendar listing for the artist(s) you would like to see, conference with your friends and designate someone to purchase the tickets as soon as they go on sale. If you would like to purchase tickets early, join as a donor(its tax deductible). These tickets sell fast and we suggest lawn seats rather than pavilion. You can setup food and still hear and see the artists just the same. So set your dates, grab your friends, grab a few bottles and we’ll see you on the lawn.
Seriously this is a really eclectic lineup for Ravinia, there are about 9 shows on the calendar we are seriously looking forward to catching. Which shows are you looking forward to?
