The Veuve Clicquot presents Race to Mackinac 2012 is less than a week away and to get you prepared and making sure you make THE Scene, SociaLifeChicago with the gracious help of 3 Chicago Style influencers will showcase several style options. Whether you will be attending the Race to Mackinac reception, kick off party at the Wit, parade of boats or the grand celebration in Michigan, our style influencers have picked something for each occasion. The first in a series of three begins with Shellie Thompson, Style concierge and owner of Closet. Wardrobe. You. Shellie is the go to for the ladies who lunch and ladies(and gents) in the know here in the city. hint: Michelle Obama on Jay Leno. She even has clients fly in specifically for her to pick out pieces for them. Behind those dark rimmed spectacles, is a detailed eye that can put together a fabulous attire! Shellie can pick out an ah-mazing outfit that you probably never considered. For this feature, she styled pieces from the closet of  Emma Kehm, Marketing student at Univ. Wisconsin-Madison and intern at Closet.Wardrobe.You. Lucky for us Emma had quite the collection of nautical pieces but even if you don’t, you can use this as style inspiration. Whatever you choose to wear, complement it with a glass(or 3) of Veuve, responsibly of course!

Shellie suggests…

This striped dress can be worn by itself or with a simple necklace as shown above
The detail on the skirt is a boat and shirt can be worn tied or tucked in with a belt

The perfect LBD for the grand celebration, pair it with a hat for elegant flair

What do you think? which pieces would you wear?
